Is it just me or did everyone and their dog get a pixie cut this week??!
So fierce.
Fierce? I just said fierce.
And now that word sounds funny to me, like it shouldn't be spelled that way.

what would gwyneth do?

I don't think I remembered to tell you all
that I finally found a winter coat!
COS came through really well in the end.

It's doesn't really resemble
any of the previous inspiration pictures from before-
rounded shoulders, collar-less...
WHOA! But I love it.

With this severe short haircut
thankfully growing into super cute
Michelle Williams territory, paired with the coat,
it's a definite Audrey Hepburn vibe.

But I do think that in the back of my mind
I'm on a hunt for a really structured coat as well.
Aaaaannd COS has this one too!

Ok, so I told you that I bought this coat,
but my actual reason for the post was to ask
what the heck kind/colour scarf will go best??

In other words,
what would Gwyneth do?

good to be proud of your friends, round 2

My dear, dear friend Sheree
is almost ready to release
her long imagined lullaby album.

She launched her new website yesterday,
and it's like a powerhouse exhibit for the talents of all my friends.
Amanda and Tom Frose designed both the website and the CD packaging.
Aaron and Brittany Huizenga took the black and white photographs.
James Moes took the coloured photographs.
Jeremy Eisenhauer wrote the most lovely and sweet biography,

"....That’s why she is the best kind of dreamer.
She never loses sight of reality like so many of us do.
A dreamer in the sense that she sees through the fantasy land
that is modern-day living.
She’s the real deal. She’s determined.
Tough as a farmer, but the softest of mothers."

This new album is spectacular.
I may or may not have an illegal pre-mastered version
that I've been listening to a lot these days
as I live this lonely french life.
There's a new song up for listening to on the website,
but there is also this beauty to be seen below.
Filmed on Bowen Island by the Huizenga's,
a gorgeous little version of Be Back Tomorrow.

ah shit, there's a barenaked ladies song in my head..

i just kind of discovered polyvore.
i'm pretty sure i'll get bored of it quickly,
but it allowed me to visualize my dream wish list.
it's rather cohesive!
also, i have fantastic taste.

alexander wang for starbucks. wtf/barf/give me a break

So,
Starbucks is collaborating with Alexander Wang to
create t-shirts.

I had such a strong reaction to this,
something akin to nausea.
I'm not sure if I'm even aptly able to explain it.
I'll tell you what my very next thought was though.

Have you seen this movie?
Made by the same dude as Office Space and Extract,
it shows a world 500 years in the future,
where only the dumbest have procreated.
Brands rule the world,
water has been culled in public perception as "the stuff in toilets",
replaced with a big name sugary electrolyte drink.
And clothing (which is the point of this reference),
is nothing but wearable advertisements.

I love Alexander Wang, totally a brilliant designer,
but I don't get this.
I can't even seem to see any indication that this is a charity based move.
This reeks of trying.
Which is lame, sure,
but it's mostly the corporatey corporate-ness of Starbucks,
trying to find 'cool way' for advertisement and exposure
that just pisses me off.

the glory of bikes

I feel like this post might be a bit of a mind dump.
The last two days I've been obsessed with all things bicycles including really cool events, fashion videos, amazing old school bicycle models (called 'Guv'nor'!), etc etc.
I feel like there is just so much I've seen, and impressed on me,
that I don't really have a way to formulate it..
so I think I'm just going to show you what I've seen (and loved!).

Pashley Bicycles out of the UK.

Droooooool.

Now, picture yourself with the above bike,
riding through the parks of London,
all dressed in tweed,
with fellow cool folks such as yourself.
Et voila, you've got
Tweed Run.

again, kind of, drooool. :)

then i saw this video,
and loved, loved, loved it!
the soundtrack especially reminded me of some 80's movie..flight of the navigator maybe?

Joanna Goddard has this wicked collection of girls in skirts on bikes,
as part of a protest to a girl being chastised by the police for wearing a skirt while biking.

OK I'll call it there.
So you can see how my mind has been occupado for the last couple days.
I'm totally obsessed.
The bike theft gods were not so sweet to me last time around,
but I feel like my heart is now ready to love again.
Maybe this weekend?
Yippeeee!
